Chiang Mai is the biggest city in Northern Thailand and it is situated among the highest mountains in the country. The climate in Chiang Mai varies between tropical wet to dry climate. The temperature is warm to hot all year round but can be cool at night during the dry season (November to March).
The city offers fantastic restaurants and street food specializing in the local Lanna Cuisine. There are also great markets i.e. Night Bazaar and Walking Street where you can shop for locally made handicrafts and hill tribe merchandise, then treat yourself to a Thai traditional massage after a long walk.
Just north of Chiang Mai is Chiang Rai which is a gateway into Myanmar and Laos. North of Chiang Rai is “The Golden Triangle” where the Mekhong meets the Ruak River and also where the borders of three countries, Thailand, Burma and Laos meet.
Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai have many tourist attractions and activities including Lanna temples, hill tribe villages, mountain trekking and playing golf at some of Thailand’s best courses.
